Chapter 36: Contract or die!

Other Awakeners around him held their weapons out and looked ready to attack him. Jael looked around, surprised it was him they were reacting to. \'What the....when did I even get here?\'

Unknown to him, he was giving off a bloodlust aura and mixed with the blood that covered him the Awakeners were weary of him.

The place he started from was far away and there wasn\'t much of Orcs around anymore. There wasn\'t much of Awakeners either. The water was filled with dead Awakeners of all races and orcs\' bloated bodies.

The large numbers of the Awakeners have been cut down even more than it was planned for and survivors looked up weary as if to ask when the time would be up.

The Iron tang of blood is the only thing that Jael could smell, but that might just be from the blood that covered him.

Jael blinked. Did I kill all those monsters? It seemed unreal as he danced over the dark sea and killed monsters and he just went ahead, crushing heads and occasionally splitting bodies in two.

"I guess I\'m strong after all." He grinned.

"Something funny?" A voice asked.

Jael turned. A platform drifted closer; there were three occupants on it; they stirred it by using one of the broken bridges, and one of them used his hands to shove bodies away from the water.

"We saw you as you killed all those orcs. You killed so much that they started to run from you. Hell of a power you have in that hand of yours. Are you a Demon?"

The tip of their platform slammed into his, rocking him gently but he kept his feet. He studied them. The one in the lead doing the talking is a beast man with a face that resembles a raccoon, but the other two are humans.

"I\'m not a Demon. Don\'t you think the three of you will be disqualified? You should look for other platforms."

The beastman grinned. "And if we want yours?"

Jael matched his grin. "You are free to try."

The beastman raised his clawed hand, and his Codex appeared in his hand. A dagger. It changed from a blue hologram to a real black dagger that drank the sun\'s light. "We will. I don\'t care for your pathetic platform. I want that ring that contains all the orcs you killed."

\'He\'s looking for a fight \' Jael stared at him flatly. "You can go around and start picking up orcs dead bodies. They fill the waters already. Again, what do you want?"

He threw the dagger from hand to hand; the best man wasn\'t even after all that, but when he saw the way that humans killed the orcs. He decided he wanted to fight him. "Your blood."

Then he leaped, covered the distance pretty fast, and cut downward. Jael met his thrust with an upward swing, expecting to slap him away with his powerful hand but when the two collided, they were both sent staggering back.

"He\'s strong!\' They both thought as one.

The beastman shifted on his toes; a grin crept on his face. "This is exciting! It\'s better than killing orcs! When you fight intelligent beings.....!!"

Jael attacked, he punched with a fist three times the size of a normal fist and the beastman lashed out, cutting deeply into the fist and dodging it by coiling around it.

Jael hissed in pain and then uncoiled the fist and used it like a whip that hit the beastman in the side.

\'Drip! Drip! Splatter!\'

His right hand was bleeding furiously, as if a tap was opened. Red blood ran down from where the dagger cut. Jael frowned down at his hand. \'The blood is too much from a wound this small, a Codex weapon\'

The beastman rubbed his side. "You managed to hit me even through that. But I\'ve cut you now. Your end is only timed."

Jael understood what he meant when Hermit failed to heal. He transformed his hand to normal, and still, his knuckles bled badly; the blood ran down his hand, creating a puddle beneath him. "What did you do?\' He demanded. He connected mentally with the ring in his hand and brought out a potion.

He kept his eyes on the beastman and drank it. It\'s a healing potion, but it might as well be a tea for all the help it does.

The beastman watched him in amusement. He raised the dagger. "One hit is all I need. I thought you would be different, but what you\'ve got going for you is all those muscles of yours. A shame."

Jael\'s eyes darkened. What is it with people and picking a fight with him? If he didn\'t treat this quickly, then he\'d end up dead sooner or later. "Stop the bleeding now."

"Why should I? I want you dead. Don\'t it tell you? And there\'s no way to stop it," he then shrugged. "You can\'t stop it but I can. It\'s easy.

Make a blood contract with me."

Jael stiffened. He didn\'t know what a blood contract is but he knew he\'d rather die than do anything with the sly bastard that intentionally targeted him. "What\'s that."

"It\'s a contract that will give me control of your body for some period of time. In exchange, I will make you stop bleeding. How\'s that? No issues right?"

Jael felt a chill. He should give control of his body? "I knew you were crazy."

"Think about it. Would you rather be dead, or will you give your body out for some time? I won\'t make you do anything you don\'t agree to. Like those two."

The two humans on the platform looked up, their head jerked up as one, and they looked at Jael. He took a step back as their eyes fixed on him. It shone a dull red glow.
