Chapter 492: 491 No one can stop him
“Older Brother Gu, there are some things I want to discuss in person.”
Wen Ran thought for a bit. It was difficult to convey some things over the telephone.
“Okay, I’m coming over right now.”
Gu Kai’s response was very straightforward. At that moment, he was in Gu Yan’s office, revealing to him that Wen Ran already knew the truth and had proposed divorce to Mo Xiuchen.
“Alright, I’ll wait for you at home.”
After hanging up the call, Gu Kai looked into his father’s concerned eyes and said gently, “Dad, Ranran has something to discuss with me, so I’m going to the Wen Family.”
Gu Yan nodded, cautioning carefully, “Since Ranran has taken Fu Jingyi’s call, she must know quite a lot. If she asks, tell her the truth, don’t hide things anymore.”
Gu Kai’s gaze shifted slightly, a hint of hesitation flitting through his eyes. He too felt that since Ranran had answered Fu Jingyi’s call, she must have discovered much more than just a single thing.
However, he found the idea of telling her the whole truth cruel.
“Alright, I’ll first listen to what she has to say. Maybe, she didn’t call me because of that.” Gu Kai’s words were somewhat self-deceptive, but he really didn’t want Ranran to know everything.
Gu Yan didn’t respond, just waved his hand to suggest that Gu Kai should go to Wen Ran.

Wen Family
Driving swiftly from the hospital, Gu Kai arrived at the Wen’s house in just twenty minutes.
Upon seeing him, Wen Jin looked surprised, “So Ranran called you or was it Mo Xiuchen who sent you over because he’s worried?”
As they walked together into the living room, Gu Kai replied, “It was Ranran who called me. She said there is something she wants to talk about in person.”
“When he came back, he asked if she has any illness other than infertility. Have you thought about how to answer her?” Upon hearing that it was Wen Ran who called Gu Kai over, Wen Jin’s heart began to race.
Gu Kai lightly licked his lips, saying softly, “My father’s opinion is that we should tell Ranran the truth. She’s already proposed divorce to Mo Xiuchen, which means she knows more than we imagined. If we continue to hide things, she won’t share with us what she’s thinking.”
Wen Jin’s facial expression changed slightly, and after a while, he silently nodded.
“I will go upstairs to find Ranran now.”
Patting Jin’s shoulder, Gu Kai quickly climbed up the stairs and headed towards Wen Ran’s room.
Wen Jin’s handsome figure stood downstairs, he gazed at the second floor for a long while before turning to go to the kitchen.
“Ranran, Xiaoxiao is here too?”
Upon entering the room, Gu Kai first greeted Wen Ran before turning to Bai Xiaoxiao.
Bai Xiaoxiao nodded at him and told Wen Ran on the bed, “Ranran, you chat with your brother. I’ll go downstairs to see what Brother Wen has been cooking. I’m planning to scrounge a meal here tonight.”
“Let me take you downstairs.”
Gu Kai glanced at her wheelchair, knowing she couldn’t go down by herself.
Bai Xiaoxiao shrugged off his offer with a carefree laugh, “No need, I’ll just call out to Wen Jin downstairs and he’ll come up to fetch me.”
“I’ll accompany you out.”
Gu Kai laughed along, escorting Bai Xiaoxiao out of the room. He called Wen Jin upstairs to come get her, then returned to the room. He closed the door and sat down on the bed’s edge, stopping Wen Ran from getting up. “Ranran, just stay seated on the bed.”
Wen Ran didn’t argue and leaned against the headboard. Fearing she would be uncomfortable, Gu Kai took a pillow and propped it up behind her.
“Ranran, feel free to ask me anything.”
Gu Kai’s mouth curved into a slight smile, his voice warm and gentle.
Wen Ran nodded and said softly, “Mo Xiuchen must have told you that I proposed divorce, right?”
“Yes, he mentioned it. He is not in a good state. Ranran, I’ve known Mo Xiuchen for over twenty years. I’ve never seen him like he was this afternoon,” Gu Kai admitted with a tinge of sadness.
Upon hearing this, Wen Ran’s heart ached. She continued, “It was him who asked Xiaoxiao to accompany me. Xiaoxiao also told me, he intends to have a vasectomy. Brother, if Mo Xiuchen really comes to you, please stop him, okay?”
Startled, Gu Kai stared at her, his narrow eyes intensifying. After taking a deep breath, he said, “Ranran, if Mo Xiuchen truly wants to go through with this, none of us, not even Ah Feng, Ah Mu, and our dad, would be able to stop him.”
Wen Ran’s face paled upon hearing this.
“Ranran, the only person who can stop Mo Xiuchen is you. Can you tell me why you want to divorce Mo Xiuchen?”
Wen Ran lowered her eyes, staring at the patterns on the quilt in silence. Her voice, low and choked with emotion, said, “Brother, you know very well that I can’t bear children, nor can I be with him for a lifetime. A person like me…is bound to leave him sooner or later.”
“Ranran!”
Gu Kai turned pale, a wave of heat surged up in his black eyes. The smooth voice from a moment ago now shook with strong emotion.
She really knew!
Wen Ran raised her head, her swollen and watery eyes revealed a strange calmness. She had been hurt too much in the past two hours since receiving Fu Jingyi’s call.
Her heart felt numb!
Looking at Gu Kai’s shocked face and the complexity in his eyes, a soft smile appeared on her lips. “Brother, I couldn’t accept it at first, and even now, I can hardly believe all of this is true. But, I can’t deceive myself, it’s real, and no one can change it.”
If it could be changed, her brother, a medical doctor, and her father, a doctor of decades, would do everything possible to cure her.
She had lost her childhood memories, had no recollections of Fu Jingyi, and did not know how formidable he was. But she had heard from her brother and her father that Fu Jingyi was a twisted person.
During that afternoon’s call, Fu Jingyi laughed coldly and told her triumphantly that Gu Yan could not cure her disease, even if he devoted his whole life trying.
Gu Kai pressed his lips tightly together then said resolutely, “Ranran, don’t believe Fu Jingyi’s words. He’s just trying to scare you. He thinks he’s the best, but in reality, he’s still one step behind our Dad. Even if he infected you with a toxin during those six years, Dad and I will certainly eradicate it from your body.”
Wen Ran’s eyes twinkled. His words warmed and moved her.
She calmly said, “Brother, I know that you and Dad are trying hard to figure it out, but there’s no need to put yourselves in difficulty, especially Dad, I don’t want him worrying about me all the time. Tell him not to blame himself if there’s no cure, and that I’m not afraid of dying.”
“Nonsense, you won’t die!”
Gu Kai’s face darkened, and he cut Wen Ran off sternly.
