Chapter 537.2

At first, there was a proposal to increase the number of matches until one of the teams won two games in succession, but that was rejected due to time constraints.

It was decided that this would be problematic because it would be impossible to tell how long the magic battle festival would be extended, and the players might simply be too worn out to play a proper match.

And so, in addition to the Rogard Empire’s team, those who advanced to the final round were from the Demon King Finar’s group led by the Demon King himself, and from the Allysia Kingdom’s Royal Guards, led by King Reid.

Two of the teams which made it to the finals consisted of humans. This result clearly showed the strength of their cooperation.

The way of the world in which the humans pushed back other races, despite their lack of superiority in physical strength or magic, could be seen here as well.

The battle scene of well-trained warriors physically fighting each other, magic flying about, and the field changing spectacularly, was quite a spectacle to watch, and the excitement of the audience was tremendous.

At this point, it was safe to say that the festival was a success.

My family did not go to all five days of the festival, but since the teleportation doors were connected, they could come and watch whenever they wanted, so they watched the competitions quite often.

I could not tell anyone how happy it made me to see the girls cheering and watching the competitions.

As for me, I watched all five days of the games.

I was absent from some of the games, but as the organizer of the festival, I felt it was my duty to participate from start to finish.

Even though I was no longer the emperor, I should at least do this much.

I enjoyed myself a lot and was not bored at all, so it was not like I was forced to watch the whole thing.

And then…

“Go! There it is!”

“It’s open sideways!”

“Go for it!”

“Aah!”

“There it is!”

The final round of the last game on the fifth day.

Cheers, of joy and sorrow could be heard.

Fighting on the field were the Royal Guards of the Rogard Empire and the Royal Guards of the Demon Realm.

The Allysia Kingdom’s Royal Guards had already lost two games and were eliminated from the final round.

Therefore, the winner of this match would decide who would be the champion of this event, but the Royal Guards of the Empire were currently losing the match.

There was only a little time left in the match, and the Demon Royal Guards were currently in possession of the ball–but with a single shot, an upset was possible.

The heat in the stadium was rising, and the cheering was so loud that it was appropriate for the finale, and everyone was cheering until their throats broke.

I was also cheering for the team, standing in front of the bench at the end of the field, not in the VIP room, but as a concerned citizen.

I had been training with Rogard Empire’s Royal Guards as their coach, after all.

Because of my knowledge of the sport, to me, they still looked like amateurs compared to those in my previous life, but because I only knew the theory of the sport, I was only able to coach them at this point, when the sport itself was still in its early stages.

“Don’t break formation, keep your vision wide, not just in front of you! If there is a hole, they will come in!”

The game went back and forth. But we couldn’t get the ball.

It seemed that the Demon Royal Guards were trying to score one more goal to decide the game, and our team was trying to hold on just in time and make a comeback against them, who were continuing their furious attack.

The fact that we were able to defend against an opponent who was superior in both size and magical ability without being broken down means that we had an advantage in terms of teamwork, but at the current rate, time was running out and we would lose the game.

We had to get the ball and go on the offensive at some point, and the signal to do so would come from me, who was, to a certain extent, working as a coach.

To make the entire team move in unison, a signal from the outside was necessary.

I would watch for the right moment while cheering loudly.

I continued watching.

The opponent’s formation, the intent of the movement, the line of sight, the position of the ball, the position of the passer, the shape of the field changed by [Field Generation], the flow of magic power, the formation of the allies, their awareness, and the state of fatigue accumulation…

There was no room for error. At this stage of the game, a mistake would lead directly to defeat.

However, the opponent was the Royal Guards led and trained by the Demon King Finar.

There was a good possibility that a trap had been hidden in their casual movements, and if our team became less conscious of their defenses as they looked for clues to counterattack, Demon Royal Guards could score again.

That, too, would be [THE END] of this year’s finale.

Desperately suppressing my impatient mind, I concentrated as much as I did during the battle in the west area of Demon Forest, and continued to watch in the dense time.

Although I was not actually moving my body, I could feel my body heating up and sweat pouring down like a waterfall.

And then – the chance came.
