Vol. 3 - Chapter 37 - Overwhelming power
But first, let\'s see how strong they are—
"Spy, are you here?"
"By your side."
A man in black appeared, kneeling beside me.
"What\'s the power analysis of the opponent?"
"The boss monkey\'s average status is C+. The top-ranking monkeys have an average of C-, their subordinate monkeys have an average of D- to D, and the small fries Pluto and the others just fought have an F- to E- average status."
I see, so for us they were just small fries.
"W-wait a minute. What level is that boss monkey with the status of C+?" Cliff asked with a look of intense fear on his face.
"It should be around level 50 if I\'m not wrong."
"F-fifty....."
As soon as the students heard this, their faces turned pale.
"It\'s dangerous! I don\'t think we can defeat it at all. Let\'s return to Straheim and report it to the Adventurer\'s Guild."
"No need. We will handle it."
Even in an instant, I had let my students face a dangerous situation. Could I still be me if I didn\'t move?
"Can Sensei even win against such a monster!?" Pluto\'s desperate words sounded like a scream.
"Of course I can. Isn\'t that right, guys?" I asked, looking around.
"Certainly!"
There were several men and women standing around—Krama, Hatch, Akuido, Theo, and Calogero.
These were the battle experts of my Sagami Co.
"Holy Spirit King, who are these guys?"
Shirohime, who didn\'t even move a single eyebrow at the giant monkey, was covered with a thick layer of fear on her face as if it were a stain.
"These are the cast of today\'s monkey hunt show."
"The cast of today\'s monkey hunt......"
I shifted my gaze from the quivering Shirohime to Akuido and the others, then commanded, "Okay, guys, let\'s get started. It\'s time for the festival. Crush our enemies to pieces."
"Yes!!"
With my order, the monkey harvesting season began.
◇◆◇◆◇◆
"Kiki?"
A golden light passed by as it weaved its way through the baboons.
"Halle?"
With that alone, countless lines ran along the bodies of baboons, and the next moment, they all were shattered into small pieces.
The golden light of the demon mercilessly turned the baboons into tiny pieces of flesh.
A red-haired, one-eyed human simply slowly walked from the other side.
"Looking down."
"Looking down."
In a matter of seconds, the entire body of the baboons rushing to devour the arrogant human was engulfed in white flames and charred.
The human did not chant, nor did it make any movements. It simply walked and approached.
And just by doing that, the white flames vaporized the bodies of the baboons, leaving not a speck of dust behind.
A man with a dreadhead, who easily crossed the two-meter height, nonchalantly released a barrage of fists, destroying the bodies of several baboons. Droplets formed a blood rain that fell into the ground as if they were dancing.
"This guy, strong, together, kill him!"
The man took a big sigh while looking at the creepily crawling baboons before swinging his fist down on the ground. It pierced the ground deeply, blasting it away.
A huge crater appeared as if it was indeed blasted away by a giant attack, blowing away the rock and sand in all directions, crushing apart the baboons into a bloody mess.
The dreaded head started walking again to annihilate the enemy.
"Huh, what\'s that?"
A myriad of shining obi glided over the heads of the baboons, who were looking at the sky in surprise. [T/N : Obi as in a kimono sash, more or less like a piece of a long strip of cloth.]
The shining light then fell on the ground, hitting their head accurately, bursting them like pomegranates.
"R-ru------"
Looking at their comrades\' heads falling down one after another, collapsing, the other baboons frantically tried to escape. However, the shining light poured down incessantly like heavy rain, continuing to reap their life.
◇◆◇◆◇◆
Because of the sudden appearance of the assailants, the army of the baboon king right now was at its peak of chaos.
"What, there are more?"
The unbelievable report gathered by the scouts continued to enter the ear of the army commander of baboons one after another.
According to them, there was a golden line running through the air, disintegrating the baboon troops into pieces.
According to them, a humanoid incarnation of fire appeared, and the troops were inevitably annihilated.
According to them, a small giant that split the earth appeared.
According to them, a shining obi\'s light flying through the sky was obliterating the troops.
"For real. All the army, return!"
The scout baboons tried to leap into the branches of a tree, but they were weakened like a puppet with broken strings and fell to the ground.
"What!?"
The baboon commander raised his voice to confirm the situation, but none of the guard baboons answered. Instead, there were two humans standing there.
One was a human man with a beard, and the other was a human brat.
"Is the boss monkey in that vine structure?" the golden-haired brat asked.
"It was reported by Spy. So I don\'t think there would be any mistake," the bearded man next to him replied, brushing the blood from his hands with annoyance.
"That\'s true too. In that case, I don\'t think we have any need for them, right?"
"So it seems."
The two humans that should have been insignificant characters, turned their eyes to him. Just from them turning their apathetic eyes towards him like an arthropod, the hair on his whole body stood up straight, and intense fear, enough to reverse the flow of blood, spread.
At this point, the baboon commander understood with his wild instinct. The reason why none of the foolish scouts, let alone the guards, was here!
The baboon commander no longer had the slightest intention of fighting and retreated to clear a path of retreat, but—
"Where do you think you are going?"
Right after the baboon commander heard the voice behind his back, his head was grasped with great force, lifting his body into the air.
He fought desperately, but the opponent did not falter.
"Just kill him without suffering."
"As you say!"
At the end of that word, the consciousness of the baboon commander severed like a broken string.
◇◆◇◆◇◆
The suppression was quicker. Although I hadn\'t thought there would be any struggle with the opponent of this level, it was carried out even easier than I expected.
Rather than attributing it to the difference in status, it was more particularly due to the ability [Evil Destroyer and Preacher] bestowed by [Awakened One]. [T/N : For "evil destroyer and preacher," originally, the words here mean "crushing evil and spreading the truth." I couldn\'t find an appropriate single word, so I will update it later.] [T/N : Before, it was stated as "Enlightened Person," but from now on the term will be "Awakened One."]
Their abilities were significantly improved when facing the giant monkey\'s monster due to [Evil Destroyer and Preacher]. In addition, they could use such ridiculous power with almost no risk. There was already no big difference for Akuido and the others between small fries and baboon commander. In the end, they crushed them with overwhelming power.
Now, Krama and I were entering their last stronghold, a structure made of vines.
"So disgusting again....."
On the left side of the vine, the corpses of humanoid creatures that had been used as food were piled up. In the other corner, several white-haired women with long ears, who seemed to have been played by the great apes, were lying dead.
They irritated me to no end. Whether it was the goblin king or the giant monkeys, were all the monsters in this world garbage with underdeveloped frontal lobes? Well, I guess that\'s why there was a demand for adventurers.
Anyway, monsters that resembled men eating are nothing but evil. I\'m not a philanthropist who loves even the enemies of humanity. I think they should be exterminated.
"Krama, take care of the survivors. I will go and tidy up that piece of trash inside."
"As you wish."
I walked to the boss monkey at the back of the room as Krama bowed with his hand on his chest.
Precisely, there was a sphere formed by a vine, and a gray giant monkey was slumped over a chair made of vines in the centre of the sphere.
The colour of its fur was different from the other giant monkeys, and he was a size bigger than the others. Above all, his status was much higher than the others. He must be the boss monkey.
"You, who are you?" he leaned forward, squinted his eyes, and observed me.
"I? Human."
"Human? Guga! Gigigigi!"
"Oh, why are you laughing?" I calmly asked the boss monkey, who started laughing like a breaking dam.
"Human, powerless. Food, violate!"
As expected, he was just a wild beast. When the boss monkey replied as I\'d expected, my interest in him disappeared at once. He wasn\'t even worth as much as an annoying fly buzzing around for me now.
[Master, I will----]
"It\'s unnecessary."
I stopped Mura, who came forward to handle that beast with an uncharacteristically solemn voice, then I made the [Explosive Threads] invisible and spread them into the surrounding.
This was so that that guy wouldn\'t escape. Now then, how should I deal with this piece of trash?
"Ah, that\'s right. Although it\'s just a mere C+ monster, it seems to have at least some intelligence, so it might be able to drop something unexpected."
"You. Look good. Eat," not caring about what I said, he roared and leapt towards me.
"However, it\'s a shame."
Using the threads of [Explosive Threads], he was restrained in no time at all.
"What, is this?" he shouted in irritation, frantically struggling to escape. But of course, there was no way such a small fry could escape from [Explosive Threads].
"I\'ll tell you. Here\'s the thing."
When I snapped my finger, his arms were slowly twisted by the entwined threads of [Explosive Thread].
"Bugi!? Bugs bugaga!! Bugyaaaa!!"
The boss monkey, whose arms were twisted off, sprayed fresh blood from his shoulders and screamed. Apparently, he finally understood his position and looked down at me with a frightened look, like a rat in front of a drunken cat.
"Did you understand?"
I was aware of the corners of my mouth rising unnaturally.
"You, are stronger than me. You are our boss."
I detonated both of his legs and turned his filthy mouth into a scream.
"My bad, but I\'m not so lacking in personality that I took a vulgar beast like you as my subordinate. Frankly, I\'m uncomfortable even talking to you."
With his pathetic screams as a chorus, I pulled Mura from its sheath and approached him.
"It turned out like that after all."
Mura\'s words of resignation reverberated in my head.
